strive to help students gain confidence and
to arm them with the tools they need to
succeed. Our goal is to help students

in class assignments, published
pieces, and teacher observations.
Word Study
• Students will take a weekly pre-test of
words that follow a specific pattern
• Students will create a list based on their
pre-test
• Students will be held accountable through
their writing samples, weekly tests, and
monthly dictation sentences
• All words on the weekly test will follow the
pattern, but some will not be on
the students’ lists.

Students will gain a positive attitude about mathematics, feeling
competent and confident, realizing the value of mathematics and
engaging actively in their learning.

Assignment Notebook
Binders
• Teacher will go over homework and
planners each day
• Homework and notes should be returned
the next day unless there are extenuating
circumstances as explained by a parent
note.
• Student binders must go home and come
back to school everyday
• Homework will be listed on teacher
website
Homework Policy
• Yellow ticket issued for each late
assignment
• Yellow ticket needs to be signed by parent
and returned the next day along with late
homework
• Extra recess and reward time is given to
students who complete work on time
Behavior Policy
• Yellow Behavior Slip- 4 step process for
misbehaviors in the classroom
– Warning
– Time Out with Think Sheet (Sent home for
parent signature)
– Missed recess with parent contact
– Principle Referral
– Serious behavior issues would be handled
directly by administration
