Guiding Principles

BELIEFS … Administration, faculty, and staff will promote those standards necessary to guarantee student success, academically and socially.

Students, through behavior modification and concentrated learning, will achieve and become respected members of the Manassas High School family.

SCHOOL CHARACTER POINTS Although a large percentage of Manassas students are from low socio-economic backgrounds, they are inherently good and caring.

Teachers must understand what many of our students go through everyday and be understanding of these problems.

VALUES Teachers must create an environment in the classroom that is physically comfortable, emotionally supportive, and conducive to the learning process.

Vision

Manassas High School envisions a learning environment with an alliance of school personnel, parents and community working to provide a quality educational experience for students that emphasizes high-level achievement, lifelong learning, and responsible citizenship.

Mission

The mission of Manassas High School is to provide a safe environment where quality, innovation, and high standards are emphasized to produce students who excel academically and socially. By mastering all academic content and assessments, students will be prepared to meet the expectations of institutions of higher learning as well as employment demands.

Philosophy Statement

It is our philosophy that each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs.

Learning by these students is best facilitated in an environment that is comfortable and safe.

Through the influence of a respectful faculty and staff, behavioral modifications in our students may be achieved. Through these modifications, our students can become lifelong learners, productive members of the workforce, and successful members of society.

Conclusion

Through the group effort of teachers, students, and parents, a more productive school year can be expected.

The remarkable thing is, we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude -Charles Swindoll
