Bakker erzählt immer ganz ruhig und lässt dem Leser immer viel Raum.
Die Königin war vor 40 Jahren im Dorf, aber das Erscheinen der König gerät in den Hintergrund
der Familie Kaan. Die Familie ist zerbrochen warum und wie wird in dem Buch ganz leise und
nebenbei erzählt.

verstild, ingetogen, veelzeggend is weet hij binnen een heel klein gebeuren ontzettend veel

bijna uitgestorven dorp (behalve de fantasievolle "begraafplaatsbewaakster") waar alles weer

toen, leef je mee met nu. Ik kan het voelen zoals ik op die zondagmiddagen van vroeger aan de
tafel met het wollen dikke kleed zat, te wachten op niets, de klok hoorde tikken, na de
kippensoep en het voorlezen uit de Bijbel, terwijl Opa en Oma hun dutje deden. Ook zij
vertelden nooit ergens over maar toch voelde je de gebeurtenissen waar niet meer over
