Description
Written for Tolkien's son, this story features a real dog, Rover, who is turned into a toy by a
wizard and then is transported to the moon. The Man in the Moon renames him Roverandom
and gives him wings. He sets out on a series of adventures, before finally asking for the spell to
be undone.

Lily: Cute! I didn’t think I’d enjoy this story, but I did. The story is about a dumb dog that bit a
grumpy wizard’s trousers and said grumpy wizard turned said dumb dog into a toy.

And for some reason it made me laugh harder than I should have. But everything was made
right in the end, and wow... It was actually happy. I can't remember the last time I read a happy
Tolkien story. *Laughs* Anyhoo, Roverandom was really good. It has a good dose of fantasy in
it and a lot of charm. Don’t you dare misjudge it.~ :)
(Btw, I had no idea that this story was made because of a REAL beloved toy that Tolkien’s child
had lost...! THIS STUPID BOOK SUDDENLY BECAME SAD NOW!)

First, honestly, if you are going to have notes in the back of the book, could you please (with a
cherry on top) let the reader know when there is a note? Just saying.
This is not as good as LOTR or the Hobbit,yet a reader can see the beginnings of both in this
story. It is hard not to see figure of Gandalf and even Biblo in this short story about a dog. It
isn't, I think, as child friendly to outloud reading as the Hobbit. It lacks that later book's charm.

Jan: Nederlands onderaan.I loved the tale because it used to be intended, a story for children.
However, i am extraordinarily disillusioned I learn this within the Dutch translation. to not say
that the interpretation was once undesirable in step with se, yet i feel it misplaced many of the
magic of Tolkiens use of language. within the creation there is a lot of mentions of all his
language video games and while I learn these little English snippets, I felt a pang of remorse of
no longer getting the English edition. Alas, my library does not hold that.I was once additionally
misled (A LOT) through the canopy of this edition, which has nothing, yet totally not anything to
do with the story. i actually do not get why the publisher, that's the easiest Dutch myth writer for
the Dutch language, and customarily does alright, selected to select this representation for the
cover. the tale is ready a foolish younger puppy who bites a wizard within the butt and is
punished for that. 2 different wizards butt in and he finally ends up on a load of adventures

de magie van Tolkiens taalgebruik verloren ging. In de inleiding zijn er veel vermeldingen van al
zijn taalspelletjes en toen ik die kleine stukjes engels las, had ik echt spijt dat mijn bibliotheek de
engelse editie niet heeft. Ik was once ook misleid (EN HOE!!!!) door de conceal van deze editie,
die niets, maar dan ook absoluut niets te maken heeft met het verhaal. Ik begrijp echt niet hoe
Mynx in godsnaam kon kiezen voor deze illustratie. Het slaat gewoon op niets. Het verhaal gaat
over een domme jonge hond die een tovenaar in de kont bijt en daarvoor gestraft wordt. 2
andere tovenaarsbemoeien zich ermee en hij belandt in een hoop avonturen, inclusief een
bezoek aan de maan. Er is absoluut niets dat aanvoelt als de traditionele fable met elven,
dwergen en trollen. Dus waarom in hemelsnaam deze foto? Dit gaat mijn verstand te boven.Dus
ja, als gevolg hiervan geef ik deze editie slechts een ok.
