How can one involve the private and public sectors in this research? Objectives of Evening Small Group Meetings Propose research and related outreach activities linking risk assessment with risk management for extreme events Build on White Papers and discussion during the day Build on Participant Notes Examples of such extreme events include: Acts of terrorism Diseases or epidemics Natural and technological hazards Airline and computer security Each group will develop one research project with two components: Understanding the economic and social effects of these events Developing strategies for preventing, protecting and dealing with consequences of their events Saturday Morning Activities Presentation of Research Projects from Small Groups Application to Problem Areas Construction and Engineering Insurance Financial Institutions Supply Chain Management Urban Planning and Design Urban Information Management and Services Saturday Afternoon Activities Small Group Lunch Sessions on Planning Future Roundtables that link research projects to specific problem areas What are the objectives of the proposed Roundtable?
