Shared Processing Center (SPC)
Launched July 2006
• Purpose:
– Centralize student administrative functions where appropriate
to leverage resources and increase effectiveness of student
service throughout the 7 campuses.
• Current Responsibilities
– Admission applications and document processing (Admissions
go-live also occurred in July 2006)
– Loan processing and management
– Archiving services

SPC Post Go-Live Assessment – Dec. 2006
• Consultant’s Recommendation
– SPC is viable - need support for this concept from the Chancellor
and Presidents to the campuses
– SPC needs a new reporting structure
– Need an effective communication plan between the SPC, the
Steering Committee and Campuses Offices of Admission
– Eliminating the SPC backlog is critical and needs to be completed
as quickly as possible.
• Actions taken from Assessment
– SPC responsibility transferred to CIO-Ralph H. Caruso
– Concept revalidated with Chancellor and Presidents
– Improved communication and reporting between SPC and
campuses
– Functional Consultant hired to assist campuses and SPC

SPC Current/Future Status
• Processing Status as of Mid March, 2007
– 30-45 day backlog greatly reduced
• Supporting documents current
• Applications at smaller campuses current
• UM & USM complete through 2/15/07
– 100,000+ documents scanned and linked
– Includes over 13,000 applications moved to campuses
– Applications up 5-6% from Fall ’06
• Next Steps
– Soup to nuts review of process
– Summit Scheduled March 27, 2007
– Review results with Chancellor and Presidents in June
