Jahangir’s Tomb
Tomb of Jahangir, is the mausoleum built
for the Mughal Emperor Jahangir who ruled
from 1605 to 1627. It is located near the
town of Shahdara Bagh in Lahore,
Pakistan. His son Shah Jahan built the
mausoleum 10 years after his father's death.
It is sited in an attractive walled garden. It
has four 30 meter high minarets. The
interior is embellished with frescoes and
colored marble.
The interior of the mausoleum is an
elevated stone coffins of white marble. The
sides are wrought with flowers of mosaic in
the same elegant style as the tombs in the
Taj Mahal at Agra, India. On two sides of
the sarcophagus the ninety-nine attributes
of God are inlaid in black.



Wasir Khan Mosque
The Wazir Khan Mosque Masjid
Wazīr Khān) in Lahore, is famous for
its extensive faience tile work. It has
been described as ‘a mole on the
cheek of Lahore’.
It was built in seven years, starting
around 1634-1635 AD, during the
reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah
Jehan.
It was built by Shaikh Ilm-ud-din
Ansari, a native of Chiniot, who rose
to be the court physician to Shah
Jahan and later, the Governor of
Lahore. He was commonly known as
Wazir Khan.

Samadhi of Ranjit Singh
The Samadhi of Ranjit Singh is the
mausoleum of the Sikh ruler
Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It is located
near the Lahore Fort and Badshahi
Mosque in Lahore. Construction was
started by his son, Kharak Singh on
the spot where he was cremated, and
was completed by his youngest son,
Duleep Singh in 1848.

How to Preserve Historical
Monuments





Schools need to educate the youth to appreciate these
historical structures and avoid graffiti,
There should be an entrance ticket to visit these
historical places,
Visitors should be fined for littering the place,
The traffic around these monuments should be strictly
prohibited from emitting smoke,
The government needs to provide funds to continue
with the maintenance and preservation process.
Tips or Warnings

Repair areas of the historical monument as
opposed to replacing with new materials,

Do not attempt to clean stone monuments that
are chipping. It may actually cause its further
deterioration. Contact the local historic
preservation office.
