Fluoroscopy - TV monitor
performance
Purpose :
• To check and set up the TV monitor of the
fluoroscopy system under normal automatic
brightness control
Equipment :
• Image quality phantom (Leeds phantom)

TV monitor setup
• Very important element of the fluoroscopy
imaging chain: monitor with the brightness set
low can cause a high dose rate to be used
• Need to see the circle inside the square at both
high and low contrast
• Fluoro the test pattern under normal automatic
control and adjust the monitor appropriately

TV monitor Setup
• Adjust brightness
•
contrast controls:
- optimise black and white
circles in squares
- full grey scale should be
visible
• Leave TV controls
unchanged for remaining

Leeds Fluoroscopy Phantoms
Adjustment of the display monitor
Incorporates:
• a ten-step wedge with
transmission from zero to
0.9 of peak white
• two discs of unity and zero
X-Ray transmission within
squares of transmissions
0.9 and 0.08
• a lead circle
