LEARNING FROM ASIA CASE STUDIES
• • • • • • There is a reform of thinking about South-South Cooperation --- looking at the total view of SSC Partners seeking benefit from south-south cooperation seemed to have been increasing. Knowing their own potential and capacity could lead to inovative program Knew there are constrains and challenges but have limited knowledge and capacity to overcome Weak coordination, institutional and administrative mechanism, lack of credible and reliable data and information.
Strong leadership an political support and commitment. Triangular ooperation open opportunity to strenghtened the technical capacities, policy and institutional framework of both providing and benficiary countries

Bangkok Call
–
The academia commit to exploring the following options to become long term learning partners of policy-makers and practitioners involved in Knowledge Exchange:
•
Support the assessment and continued learning around the guidelines for horizontal partnership, to be endorsed during the Busan HLF, and the G20
•
Play a role in supporting country-led capacity development around policy, institutional and operational challenges
•
Engage in the design of an evaluation framework on development results and impact of Knowledge Exchange
•
Deepen the regional networking of Southern academia that have emerged or have been enriched through the TT-SSC process, and engage in inter-regional dialogue among academic partners from Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean.
•
Consider the concrete options of including Knowledge Exchange more systematically in our research and teaching, for example by involving our junior professors and students in case stories and studies
TOWARD GOOD PRACTICES TO IMPROVE SSC AND TRIANGULAR COOPERATION
• • • Networking is an effective way to learn each other’s strong point and to offset one’s own weakness. The successful implementation depends on the action of participating partners , however, it depends also on the concerted support from the relevant ministries and governmental agencies concerned National commitment should consist in specifying the policy and action to be taken or initiated at the government level. Policy framework in each participating countries have dominant impact on SSC.
TOWARD GOOD PRACTICES TO IMPROVE SSC AND TRIANGULAR COOPERATION
• • • Monitoring should be an integral part of target-setting and programme development. The key criteria and performance indicators to be used for monitoring and evaluating the national system should be selected and developed by consensus among the major participating countries. The national policy, as well as progress in implementation of the strategic action plans, should be evaluated on a regular basis.
The role diverse actors of cooperation play important part especially in strategic policy making directly during the planning and implemention process and thus ensure the benefits to be accrued after the implementation of the programs.
TOWARD GOOD PRACTICES TO IMPROVE SSC AND TRIANGULAR COOPERATION
• • • Research and development programmes should be encouraged that specifically aim at providing the data and information required for developing, monitoring and assessing SSC at the national and regional level Good Practices are a mechanism to ensure that processes, institutional and diverse actors of SSC are expected and required to produce quality SSC results .
Design a good practice guidelines will raise awareness of good practice and improve the effectiveness participating partnres . The Guidelines draw on lessons learned from the case study and case story and translate them into practical operational guidance for participating partners
