Brock, Jr. Scholarship – Premier scholarship package at UTC – Renewable for eight semesters – Combined with TN HOPE (lottery) and any other University or departmental scholarships Annual cultural stipend Other Funded Experiences Odyssey Grants – Funding for study abroad, internships away from campus Access to funding for research and travel to regional and national conferences Brock Scholars Travel Seminars 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 Paris Florence & Rome Vienna Madrid & Barcelona Western Turkey Germany Greece China London Spain Budapest and Prague National Recognition National Scholarships: - Rhodes - Truman - Goldwater - Boren National Programs: - Public Policy and International Affairs Institute (Princeton) - Institute for Responsible Citizenship (Georgetown) About Brock Scholars Alumni Over 90% who apply are Emory Harvard Columbia Vanderbilt accepted into law school, medical school, and Ph.D. programs Most receive generous fellowships, scholarships or assistantships Oxford Stanford Johns Hopkins University of Chicago Selection Process – Phase I Separate Brock Scholars Application available at www.utc.edu/brock-scholars – Application form – Résumé – Essay on prescribed topic – 2 recommendation letters – Transcript – ACT or SAT Scores December 1st deadline Selection Process – Phase II Selected candidates invited for two-day campus conference in late January or early February, including: – Interviews – Seminar – Class visits – Department visits – Social activities – Overnight stay in honors housing Decision letters sent in early March Innovations in Honors (IIH) Offering new honors opportunities – Engaging more students in honors education through collaborative learning – Community-embedded – Problem-based learning – Honors thesis – Application deadline February 1 for currently enrolled UTC students or transfer students who have completed at least one year of college High-Achieving Mocs Living Learning Community (HAM LLC) 38 new freshmen will participate Students live, work, and take classes as a cohort in a one-year experience Students who apply to UTC with a minimum 26 ACT and 3.5 high school GPA will be invited to join as long as space remains Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities Educate undergraduate students about research and creative production Engage students in research and creative opportunities Provide information to faculty and students across campus Promote new research initiatives Provide support for conference participation Departmental Honors Honors thesis in the major department Two-semester research or creative project Presentations at conferences Publications in professional journals
