Challenges and Opportunities
Challenges to underrepresented freshmen recruitment
In Indiana: of 4,380 senior SAT test takers in June 2007 statewide, 123
(2.8%) underrepresented students qualified for honors.
In Indiana and select metropolitan areas in NY, NJ, MI, KY, OH, IL, MO:
of 18,713 students from 1,504 (8.04%) underrepresented students
qualified.
These are highly sought after students nationwide who routinely receive
full ride scholarships from in and out of state schools – competition is
fierce.
