Partnership working
• The trails have been researched and designed by a small team, supported at the
‘road testing’ stage by members of GeoLancashire geological society.
• Hanson UK’s Ribblesdale works supported GeoLancashire in the publication of
the Clitheroe guide and added interpretive boards at a newly created quarry
viewpoint near the south bank of the Ribble
• Collaboration with RRT has opened new avenues, which we are keen to pursue,
developing further trails in the Ribble catchment or even further afield
Principal elements
• A3 folding to A6 format (fits in pocket)
• Written for the non-specialist
• Circular walk of 4-6km, often with a shortcut
• Clear route map with numbered locations
• Text explaining each location
• Images of key features
• Contextual information
• Additional background information on web
• One of a series available free to download
