Alpine yodeling was a longtime rural tradition in Europe, and became popular in the 1830s as an entertainment in theaters and music halls. Hélène Sajons 5 Are traditional music and dances still „in“? All-over Lower Bavaria local costume groups try to keep traditional dances alive. In cities they encounter more difficulties than in villages due to the fact that lot of inhabitants are not originally from Bavaria and that young people usually prefer other kind of music and dance. Music groups experienced the same situation but the traditions are still well alive and continue to be passed to the younger generation. Thank you for your attention!
