”Not finance. Not strategy. Not
technology. Its teamwork that
remains the ultimate competitive
advantage, both because it is so
powerful and so rare.”
Patrick Lencioni
(i: The five dysfunctions of a team)


A Team is a relatively small number of
persons, who are sharing common goals AND
responisbility AND rewards to obtain the
goals.
Team members are focusing on a shared
vision and can easily set aside personal goals
◦ Otherwise it is just a group of people

Accountability
Commitment
Conflicts
Trust
And then it is easier to focus on the
shared vision instead of own personal
goals.
It is easy to take responsibility – and to
hold each other accountable – in a
environment based on trust
When everybody freely speak there
mind the participants can wholehearted commit in the design of
important solutions
Therefore you can have passionate
dialogues on key issues and core
values. You can disagree and challenge
each other in order to find the best
answer
In a team you trust each other on a
fundamental level. It is without
problems to be vulnerable to each
other when it comes to weaknesses,
fears and behavior.


Requires teamwork
◦ Innovation is about getting new ideas of new ways
of doing something
◦ All innovation starts with creative ideas

Ability to cooperate constructively

The quality is in the process

The intention is that you become effective
teams

◦ Differences are a chance
for dialogue
◦ Everybody needs a voice
◦ Intrinsic Government
◦ Not accountability
◦ Focus on the shared
vision, not own goals

Pattern: Community of trust
◦ Trust can be regarded as the fundamental property
of all innovative enterprises
◦ All good relations are build on trust

Co-construction
Inner Motivation not outer motivation
Intrinsic government not external control
Everyone should have a voice

 Introduction
to a methodology
for team development

Try and think of yesterday - focus on
something that you succeeded in, something
that made you happy, a good moment etc.
Please write down keywords

Think a little more:
◦ What was it that made it a good
experience/moment for you ?
◦ What did you do ?
◦ what did others do ?

What could have made the day / experience /
moment even better ?

When you have the answer to these 3
questions you have a story of success.
◦ You have used your analytical skills
◦ You have been creative coming up with visions on
how the situation could have been even better

The skills you have demonstrated here can
be used in many different situations….
Setting our imagination free
and
develop our native ability to be positive and
constructive.
Appreciative focus
Problem-oriented focus
Best experiences
Problems/ unfilled needs
Visions for the future Analysis of causes
Values – dialogue
Analysis of solutions
Creating the future
Creating a plan

Story Telling one at a time: Describe
your best team experience while the
rest of the group is encouraged to be
curious and engage in dialogue with
the focal person
list and develop a consensus on the
attributes of highly effective groups
 Decide which of these attributes
should characterise your teamwork
