THE BIGGER SWITCH
Do you have any regrets?
2 Peter 2:20-21
20 For
if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the
world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and
overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the
beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them
not to have known the way of righteousness, than
having known it, to turn from the holy
commandment delivered to them.
Rich man
Luke 16:19-31
23 And
being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and
saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then
he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on
me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in
water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame
27 “Then
he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would
send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers,
that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place
of torment
What causes us to fall?
Unbelief
Romans 11:20
20 Well
said. Because of unbelief they were broken
off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but
fear.
What causes us to fall?
1 Timothy 4:1-3
4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some
will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits
and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy,
having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from
foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving
by those who believe and know the truth.
What can we do?
Romans 10:14
14 How
then shall they call on Him in whom they
have not believed? And how shall they believe in
Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall
they hear without a preacher?
Why?
2 Timothy 1:12
12 For
this reason I also suffer these things;
nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I
have believed and am persuaded that He is able to
keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
So that we’re prepared
Matthew 25:44-46
44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord,
when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger
or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister
to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying,
‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do
it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to
Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting
punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
7 and
to give you who are troubled rest with us
when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with
His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance
on those who do not know God, and on those who
do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 These shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord and
from the glory of His power,
Drastic Measures
Matthew 18:8
8 “If
your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off
and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter
into life lame or maimed, rather than having two
hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting
fire.
There is a way
1 Corinthians 10:12-14
12 Therefore
let him who thinks he stands take heed
lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you
except such as is common to man; but God is
faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted
beyond what you are able, but with the temptation
will also make the way of escape, that you may be
able to bear it. 14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from
idolatry.
We need to be ready.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all
that you do be done with love.
1 John 1:7-9
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His
Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess
our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
It wont be easy.
2 Timothy 3:12-15
12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ
Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and
impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving
and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the
things which you have learned and been assured
of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have known the
Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise
for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
But, we can overcome
Revelation 21:7-8
7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his
God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving,
abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers,
idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which
burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
1 Corinthians 2:9
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
John 14:1-6
14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God,
believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many
mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for
you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where
I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and
the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not
know where You are going, and how can we know the
way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
