Course Mission Statement
“To provide basic and fundamental
knowledge to new Navy Information Warfare
and Information Professional Officers to
help them gain a clear understanding of their
responsibilities and communities. The course
is an introduction to the values that guide the
IW/IP communities, including innovation,
dedication to technical excellence and
mission focus.”
Information Warfare Community Vision
The Navy's Information Warfare (IW) community delivers
overwhelming information superiority to naval and Joint
commanders. We do this by leading the integration and
application of the core capabilities of Information
Operations and Signals Intelligence to shape, influence, and
defeat select audiences in support of commanders’ objectives.
Our community applies signals and information expertise,
and attacks, defends and exploits networks to pursue and
capitalize on opponent vulnerabilities in the information
environment. As war-fighters we do so across all phases of
operations delivering decisive information effects, and we
provide other war-fighters, planners and policy makers with
real-time warning, offensive opportunities, and
overwhelming advantage.
Information Professional Community Vision
Information Professionals are a total force, Seaman through
Admiral, warfare-experienced community that harnesses
technology, information and knowledge to win in combat.
We are a fully integrated member of the war-fighting team,
with supported and supporting roles across all warfare areas.
We lead the processes, tactics, techniques, and procedures
required for knowledge management and superiority in
support of the Naval mission. Information Professionals
drive interoperability as the Navy’s enabler in the Joint,
Allied and Coalition environments and foster operational
and business process productivity through sustained
innovation as a core competency. A culture of excellence is
empowered by a robust learning continuum of education,
training, certification, refreshment, industry partnerships
and experience. Information Professionals are recognized as
world- class information power advantage Joint warriors,
delivering tomorrow’s innovations today.
