Projecting the Presentation
To show your presentation in class,
you need:
A laptop computer with your powerpoint
file on it
An LCD projector
Some classrooms have LCD
projectors permanently installed.
If your room doesn’t have one, reserve a
projector from the Media Center
Saving the Presentation
If you can use your own laptop
computer to project the presentation,
you can simply save the presentation
on the C: drive and bring the whole
thing with you
If you’re using a Media Center laptop,
you have to save your file somehow
so it can be transported
Saving the Presentation, cont.
PowerPoint files can be huge,
especially if they contain a lot of
graphics.
If your computer has a CD writer,
save the PowerPoint file on a CD
If not, you will have to use multiple
floppy disks and the “Pack and Go”
option
Pack and Go
Have several empty, formatted floppy
disks on hand
Click “File,” Pack and Go” and follow
the instructions
Make sure you number each disk
Get to the Media Center early to
“unpack” your presentation onto a
Media Center laptop
Showing the Presentation, cont.
Ahead of time,
have someone in
the Media Center
show you how to
run the laptop and
LCD projector
Get to your
classroom early, if
possible
On the laptop, run
PowerPoint, then
View show
I have the first slide
projected with the
screen up and the
lights on until I’m
ready
If you’re in a room with
a multi-media lectern,
you can have the
presentation running
and then press the
“black screen” button
until you’re ready
