Northwest Evaluation Association-Measure of
Academic Progress (NWEA-MAP)
 Students will take a Reading and Math Assessment in
Winter and Spring.
 Adaptive test that measures growth and predicts
proficiency; starts on grade level and adjusts after
every question
 Provides information about the instructional level of
students (growth data) NOT what they have mastered

 Dedicated daily time to record homework assignments and utilize

 Organization/Materials area where student can get supplies (pencil

Writer of the Week
 Each student will get a chance to display three pieces of
their writing
 Students can select from writing they have done in
class or at home
 Students will also need to include a written statement
explaining why they chose the three pieces that they
did
 “Writer of the Week” letter will come home the week
before it will be displayed

Behavior System
 Behavior chart clip system to track behavior in the classroom.
 Visually track behavior for the day
 Students’ clips can be moved up or down depending on their
behavior.
 Students get their clips moved down one time for breaking a
classroom or school rule. If they do so again then their clip will get
moved down again and so forth.
 If students exceed expectations during the school day then they have
a chance to move their clip up! If they keep exceeding expectations
they can keep moving their clip up until they reach the top!
 Please encourage your child to exceed expectations each day so they can
clip up!
