Love Gone Cold
Where has “Philadelphia”
gone ?
We live in an era when
brotherly love is rapidly
becoming a thing of the past.
Divided by :
a. Race , national origin
b. Religion , lack of religion
c. Gender , or rejection of it
d. Political opinion , morals
Jesus warned us :
Matthew 24: 12
Because lawlessness is increased,
most people’s love will grow cold.
The brethren at Laodicea
had become complacent.
Revelation 3: 15-16
‘I know your deeds, that you are neither
cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold
or hot. 16 ‘So because you are
lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold (
,i.e., average ), I will spit you out of My
mouth.
The brethren at Ephesus had lost
the fervor of their love.
Revelation 2: 4-5
But I have this against you, that you have left
your first love. 5 ‘Therefore remember from
where you have fallen, and repent and do the
deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to
you and will remove your lampstand out of its
place—unless you repent
Each one of us must evaluate
and monitor ourselves.
II Corinthians 13: 5
Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith;
examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize
this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in
you—unless indeed you fail the test?
I. If our care meter is running
low, we must ask ourselves
“Why don’t I care more ?”
Many don’t care because
they are selfish.
I can’t think about anyone but me.
Luke 12: 13-15
Someone
in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher,
tell my brother to divide the family inheritance
with me.” 14 But He said to him, “
Man, who

appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over
you?”15 Then He said to them, “
Beware, and

be on your guard against every form of greed;
for not even when one has an abundance does
his life consist of his possessions.
Luke 12: 16-21
And He told them a parable, saying, “The
land of a rich man was very productive.
17 And he began reasoning to himself,
saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no
place to store my crops?’ 18 Then he said,
‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my

barns and build larger ones, and there I
will store all my grain and my goods.
19 ‘And I will say to my soul, “Soul,
you
have many goods laid up for many years
to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be
merry.” 20 But God said to him, ‘
Y

ou fool!
Luke 12: 16-21 ... continued
This very night
your soul is required of
you; and
now who will own what you have
prepared?’ 21 So is the man who s
tores
up treasure for himself, and is not rich
toward God.”
The barns he filled were on the earth.
Matthew 6: 20-21
But store up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust
destroys, and where thieves do not break
in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also.
Many don’t care because
they are ignorant.
Words
Colossians 1: 16-17
For by Him ( Jesus ) all things were created,
both in the heavens and on earth, visible
and invisible, whether thrones or dominions
or rulers or authorities—all things have
been created through Him and for Him. 17
He is before all things, and in Him all things
hold together..
Acts 17: 23 ( 22-34 )
For while I was passing through and
examining the objects of your worship, I
also found an altar with this inscription,
‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore
what you worship in ignorance, this I
proclaim to you.
Many don’t care because
their love is being choked
Words
by worldliness.
My care meter is clogged by my life.
Luke 8: 14
The seed which fell among the thorns, these
are the ones who have heard, and as they
go on their way they are choked with
worries and riches and pleasures of this life,
and bring no fruit to maturity.
I John 2: 15-17
Do not love the world nor the things in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the love
of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is
in the world, the longings of the flesh and
the desire of the eyes and the boastful
pride of life, is not from the Father, but is
from the world. 17 The world is passing
away, and also its lusts; but the one who
does the will of God lives forever.
James 4: 4
You adulteresses, do you not know that
friendship with the world is hostility toward
God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend
of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Luke 16:13
No servant can serve two masters; for either he
will hate the one and love the other, or else he
... You cannot serve God and wealth.
II. Why should we care ?
We should love God because
He loved us first.
God’s love is proven.
I John 4: 10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but
that He loved us and sent His Son to be
the propitiation for our sins.
I John 4: 19
We love, because He first loved us.
Romans 5: 8
But God demonstrates His own love
toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us.
God’s love should not
be left unrequited.
We should love God because
He provides for us.
God allows us to live on His
earth for only a 10% share.
Psalms 24: 1
The earth is the Lord’s, and all it
contains, The world, and those who
dwell in it.
All of our good things come from God.
James 1: 17
Every good thing given and every perfect
gift is from above, coming down from the
Father of lights, with whom there is no
variation or shifting shadow.
II Peter 1: 3
seeing that His divine power has granted to us
everything pertaining to life and godliness,
through the true knowledge of Him who called
us by His own glory and excellence.
Ephesians 1: 3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in
Christ,
We should love God because
He protects Words
our souls.
I Peter 1: 5
reserved in Heaven for you 5 who are protected
by the power of God through faith for a salvation
ready to be revealed in the last time.
Jude 24
Now to Him who is able to keep you from
stumbling, and to make you stand in the
presence of His glory blameless with great joy,
III. How do we rekindle our
love for God and make
it stronger?
Keep learning more about God
so you will be able to
understand Him better.
All relationships require maintenance.
Jude 21
keep yourselves in the love of God,
waiting anxiously for the mercy of our
Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
Spend time with Him.
Bonding takes time together.
Spend time with people
who love Him.
Birds of a feather flock together.
Tell other people about Him.
Once you’re off the fence it’s
easy to go either direction.
Examining yourself, are you as
close to God as you want to be ?
No Christian is.
God’s demonstration of love for us
should motivate us to reciprocate.
Our challenge is to constantly
work on strengthening our
relationship with God.
Do you have a relationship
with God ?

He loves you too
