Luke 24:13ff
“He isn’t here! He is
risen from the dead!”
Luke 24:6
By Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or
authorities—all things have been created through Him and for
Him. Colossians 1:16
If Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless,
and your faith is useless. And we apostles would all be lying
about God—for we have said that God raised Christ from the
grave. But that can’t be true if there is no resurrection of the
dead. 1 Corinthians 15:14-15

resurrection of Jesus Christ from
the dead, 1 Peter 1:3
While Peter and John were speaking to the people, they were
confronted by the priests, the captain of the Temple guard, and some
of the Sadducees. These leaders were very disturbed that Peter and
John were teaching the people that through Jesus there is a
resurrection of the dead. They arrested them and, since it was
already evening, put them in jail until morning. Acts 4:1-3

That same day two of Jesus’ followers were
walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles
from Jerusalem. As they walked along they were
talking about everything that had happened. As
they talked and discussed these things, Jesus
himself suddenly came and began walking with
them. But God kept them from recognizing him.
Luke 24:13-16
He asked them, “What are you
discussing so intently as you walk
along?”
They stopped short, sadness written
across their faces. Luke 24:17

“What things?” Jesus asked.
“The things that happened to Jesus, the man from
Nazareth,” they said. “He was a prophet who did
powerful miracles, and he was a mighty teacher in
the eyes of God and all the people. But our leading
priests and other religious leaders handed him over
to be condemned to death, and they crucified him.
We had hoped he was the Messiah who had come
to rescue Israel. This all happened three days ago.

“Some of those who were with us went to the tomb
and found it just exactly as the women also had
said; but Him they did not see.” Luke 24:24
Disappointed only because they never understood
God was doing something even better.
We think we know how things should unfold, but God
has a better plan.
 The question is: can we survive the paradigm shift?

 Normally thrown into confusion and despondency.
 “I was so sure it was God’s will.”
"But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third
day since these things happened. Luke 24:21

You can hear JC saying, “Oi Vey”
And He said to them, "O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Luke
24:25
They had the same problem the women had: “He said it, why don’t you believe it?”

"Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?" Then beginning with
Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
Luke 24:26-27

Like Psalm 22, Isaiah 53
And they approached the village where they were going, and He acted as though He were going farther.
Luke 24:28

Have you ever hung around, waiting to be invited to dinner?
But they urged Him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day is now nearly over."
So He went in to stay with them. Luke 24:29

Needing to be invited in.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. Luke 24:31
They said to one another, "Were not our hearts
burning within us while He was speaking to us on the
road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?"
Luke 24:32

Your spiritual temperature indicates your
spiritual health: either cold, lukewarm or hot.

Cold: like stone, like ice: unresponsive to God’s
Word. Nothing affects you. A signs of the End
Times: “Love will grow cold.”

Lukewarm: nothing worse. Who likes lukewarm
milk? Rev.3:15 “Spew you…” BARF. I hate to
throw up, but some are better than others. My
wife goes “blip”. Sean growls like a lion. He was
saying this to people “in the church” – not
actually members of the BOC. “I
stand…knock…” Esp. important for Christian
kids. Someone sitting in a bar nursing a beer is
closer to the KOG than some sitting here (because
you’ve been raised in the church, you’ve heard it
all, you’ve been inoculated against the gospel).
Morgan: “an evagelized non-believer.”

They were pretty fired-up.

God is so much greater than we think He is. It’s
really an issue of trust.

Have you been disappointed lately? About being
single? About being married? About your
ministry?

The lessons are deep: maybe God has a better
plan than you.



Maybe God is challenging your views and your
plans.
He’s calling for you to open up, quit wrestling
with Him and against Him.
Have your spiritual eyes been opened? It may
take a while, because our will & determination
are strong.

We will live forever.


We will have a
resurrection.
•“Of first
importance…” 1
Cor. 15
We will have a
resurrection body.
•Eat without
gaining weight?
•There will be no
disabilities.
•You won’t grow
old.
We will “know as
we are known…”
•We will know one
another.
•We only use a
fraction of our
brain space today.

“I am the resurrection…do you
believe this?”
Today I need to live for Christ,
because “To live is Christ, to
die is gain.”
Only those prepared to die
will really live.
