Roland Library Tutorial Mobius online catalog Hannibal La-Grange University Main Page To log on to the MOBIUS online catalog, start at the HannibalLaGrange University main page located at http://www.hlg.edu. To get to the library’s homepage, look towards the top of the screen at the right side of the blue menu bar. Locate the link labeled library. After locating the Library link on the Hannibal-LaGrange University main page, a menu will appear as shown above. Click on “Catalog” in the menu to go directly to the “Library Catalog” home page. To search the MOBIUS online catalog, click the link labeled “Mobius Catalog” located towards the bottom center of the page. This is the main search page for the MOBIUS online catalog. First, you will need to decide how you want to search, by choosing an item from the drop down box. For this example search, we will select keyword and perform a keyword search. Next you will need to put your search terms into the search box. For this example search, we will use the word “library”. After you enter your search terms, click the “Submit” button. For this example search we will use item number three. Click on the title for this item. This page gives you more detailed information about the item. For this item, there are four copies at two different MOBIUS libraries. The first copy has a Status of “Due”. This means that you may not request the book because it’s already checked out. The second through fourth copies say “Available” under status. These copies of the book can be requested. To request a MOBIUS book, locate the link in the middle of the page that says “Request”. Click on this link. Next, you will need to select the cluster in which your college or university is located. Hannibal-LaGrange University is part of the LANCE cluster. After selecting your cluster, click the “Submit above information” button. Next you will need to enter your name and campus ID number. Your campus ID number is located on your campus ID card. You will also need to select your pickup cluster and pickup location from the two drop down boxes. Remember that Hannibal-LaGrange is a part of the LANCE cluster. Once the correct information is entered into the correct locations, click the submit button. The item you requested, the cluster, and the delivery location are listed on this page. Now locate the button at the top of the page that says “Regular Display”. By clicking the “Regular Display” button you will return to the information for the item you selected. Locate the button at the top middle of the page that says “Return to Browse”. By clicking on the “Return to Browse” button, you will return to the original list of items retrieved from your search on the word “library”. Again, turn your attention to the row of buttons at the top of the page. Locate the button that says “Modify Search”. By clicking on the “Modify Search” button, you can set various limiters on your search to help narrow the list of items retrieved. Click on this button. One way to limit your search is by setting how the items are displayed when they are retrieved after a search. Using the “Search and Sort” option you may have your search results listed by date, title or relevance. You may also limit the search by using boolean and logical operators. Another option is limiting the search to a particular material format such as book, musical score, map or one of many other options. You may also want to limit your search to a particular date range by using the “Year of Publication” feature. You may limit your search to only list items written in a specific language by using the “Language of Work” scroll box. The last limiter allows you to restrict your results to a specific publisher. After all the limits are in place click the submit button at the top of the page. With all of the limiters in place, the top item is our book. As you can see, limiters can really help to narrow your search. To conduct a new search in the MOBIUS online catalog, you can click the “Start Over” button located on the far left side at the top of the page. You can also click the far right button that says “ Another Search”. Both of these buttons will take you back to the main MOBIUS search page.
