Advisory Program




The Stratford High School Advisory is a program intended
to ensure that each student is known well by at least one
adult staff in the building. Through bimonthly meetings
built into the school schedule, it is the aim of Advisory to
meet the following goals as outlined in The Advisory Guide
(Poliner and Lieber):
Help students adjust to school, particularly the entering
grade;
Build community among students – that is, encouraging a
sense of belonging and respect while decreasing anonymity
and alienation;
Provide academic advising and coaching, helping students
succeed by giving them behind-the-scenes support in a
proactive, organized way.
