Project Background
• Road Safety Research has been Established in
2008, The Road Safety Programme recognizes
its importance to develop more effective road
safety measures and strategy and to improve
knowledge about factors contributing to road
crashes.

Project Background
•
Objective:
To enhance road safety policies and strategies of partners and
stakeholders in Cambodia by conducting and promoting nationally and
internationally-recognized research.
•
Partners:
- National Road Safety Committee (NRSC)
- Transport Research Institute (IMOB)
- John Hopkins University (JHU)
- Coalition for Road Safety (CRY)

Expected Results
• Appropriate strategies based on research are
developed for improving road safety policies and
programmes
• The capacity of local NGO to design and carry out
road safety research is increased and road safety
library is set up;
• Coordination with national and international road
safety research agencies is improved through the
dissemination of information;

CRY, NRSC, MOI, MOH…);

Challenges/Difficulties
• Limited human resource in road safety research (lack
of skill and document)

Lesson Learnt
• Technical assistance from specific research institute
helps implement and increase knowledge in road
safety research;

Conclusion/Recommendation

Collaborate with specific research institute (IMOB) and
local NGO will make the project successful;

Provide more trainings on Road Safety and research
methodology will increase the capacity to carry out
research project;
