More than Ever
Ordinary people with
extraordinary power
sharing, praying, giving
and suffering for the
spread of the gospel.
Matthew 4:19
“Follow Me, and I will make
you fishers of men.”
Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus
came and told his disciples,
“I have been given all
authority in heaven and on
earth. Therefore, go and
make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father
and the Son and the
Holy Spirit. Teach these
new disciples to obey all
the commands I have given
you. And be sure of this: I
am with you always, even to
the end of the age.”
Jesus sent His Spirit upon
about 120 followers and
through them accomplished
His promise in Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit comes
upon you. And you will be
my witnesses, telling people
about me everywhere--in
Jerusalem, throughout
Judea, in Samaria, and to
the ends of the earth."
Ordinary people with
extraordinary power
proclaiming the good
news about Jesus Christ
get it done.
There are two important
characteristics of this
type of disciple:
Self-denying
Matt. 16:24 Then Jesus told
his disciples, “If anyone
would come after me, let
him deny himself and take
up his cross and follow me.”
Spirit-led
“And after the Holy Spirit
comes upon you, you will
be my witnesses.”
But what does this look
like in your life?
If you are a follower of
Jesus, then your life has
a plan:
Ephesians 3:20 “God is able to
do far more abundantly
beyond all that we ask or
think, according to the
power that works within us.”
Self-Denial
Spirit Led
Your life has a
core purpose:
Ephesians 3:21 “To Him be
the glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations
forever and ever.”
And we see this again in
1 Cor. 10:31:
“Whether you eat or drink,
or whatever you do, do
everything for God’s glory.”
“Man’s chief and highest end
is to glorify God, and fully
to enjoy Him forever.”
The problem is that we have
been brought up in a
society that has taught us
that it’s all about me!
The purpose of our
study for the next few
weeks is not to get you
involved in some new
program or event.
It is to help you walk with
gospel intentionality in
your every day activities
until you can have
conversations that share
the transformative hope
and power of the gospel
that is available to all
people.
