EROS Employees:
Blake Sunne’s dad
Justin/Julie Vermeer’s dad
Jake Homer’s dad
James Burkman’s dad
Emil S. = Pete Bancini-like
Swung his fist at my dad, because he
was certain my dad was sending him
back to his physically violent,
abusive father, who was definitely
dead. Emil S. had been abused 40
years prior to the instance when he
was violent toward my father.

Don H.

“Institutionalized” entirely, just like the men in the
novel/film. Cheswick, Harding, and others like it better in
the hospital, because the hospital is “safer” than society.
Has schizophrenia.
 “SUPER SENIORS at BVHS” THEORY ? (Buy or
Sell this theory of institutionalization?)
Schizophrenia = fragmented mind. (like the novel, which is
fragmented, too—short sections, sane-insane-sane-insanesane fragments; “schizophrenically written”)
 Electroconvulsive (or shock) therapy
• (“EST” in the novel)

Frontal lobotomy—not used any more; made people
“calmer” or lethargic or even “zombiefied.”

Marfan’s Syndrome (Abraham Lincoln, too); kicked out of
home for being “different” and “deficient.”
• Invaded McDonald’s trash bins to eat and subsist.
