


Open Enrollment was created by State Statute
in 1988.
Basically, open enrollment allows non-resident
public school students to attend public schools
outside of the school district in which they
reside.
More than 30,000 public school students open
enrolled last year.



There is no tuition fee charged to the student.
Families generally provide transportation but
they do have the right to be transported from
the border of the district to the school site
assigned.
Schools may choose to send transportation into
neighboring districts but must give notice to
the resident district.
