STEM Camp
• Objectives:
– To increase students interest in the Science
Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) related fields
– To create a culture of knowledge about renewable
energy and its uses
Creating solar stills to purify
water!
Making a solar cooker!
Using STEM to create future scientists
• We propose a Saturday-based STEM camp that
follows the lessons from the summer program
• Target group is 5th through 8th graders from our
feeder schools
• This will lead to higher levels of interest in the
science and math subject areas as students
come to high school
Solar power in our schools
• We can utilize solar power to cut power costs over
time
• Having solar equipped buildings can prevent
stoppage of work during power blackouts
Powering District Office with
Renewable Solar Energy
• We propose to power the district office using a
suitable set of solar panels (solar arrays) on the
roof of the building
• This would allow the office to operate on days
where there is a power outage without the use
of generators, as well as helping to move
district 205 towards sustainable energy
practices
