1 Tim. 3:1, “Palabra fiel: Si alguno
anhela obispado (el cargo de obispo), buena obra
desea”. Lo anhela porque ama a Cristo, iglesia.
 Introduction.
1 Tim. 3:1, “This is a faithful
saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop,
he desires a good work.” He desires it because he
loves Christ, church.

haber fieles hermanos que anhelen

 There
should be faithful brethren who
desire to be elders, and all the members
should desire that we have elders. James

sin ancianos está en el estado infantil

 Church
without elders is in its infant stage, but
infant stage for over 50 years? Something’s
wrong. We must leave our negative attitudes.

que hacen esta “buena obra” son designados
como “ancianos” (Hech. 20:17), “obispos”
(supervisores) (Hech. 20:28) o “pastores” (Heb.
13:17). ¡Gran honor! Y gran OBRA.
 Those
that do this “good work” are designated as
“elders” (Acts 20:17), “bishops” (supervisors)
(Acts 20:28) or “pastors” (Heb. 13:17). Great
honor! And great WORK.

20:28, “tened cuidado de vosotros…” Hombres
de buen testimonio, de buena influencia.

reputation, good influence.

Los miembros imitan su fe, amor,
carácter, santidad, dedicación a la obra.

elders are the “guides” of the church.
The members imitate their faith, love,
character, holiness, dedication to the
work.

(dirigen). Rom. 12:8, “el que preside
(dirige), con solicitud (diligencia)”.

que lo hagan con alegría y sin quejarse,
pues esto no os sería provechoso”. Iglesia sumisa
a sus ancianos – alegría, provecho para todos.
 “Let
them do so with joy and not with grief, for
that would be unprofitable for you.” Church in
submission to its elders – joy, profit for all.

entre vosotros, y os presiden (dirigen) en el
Señor, y os amonestan (instruyen)”.

Como pastores apacientan el rebaño. Hech.
20:28, “apacentar (pastorear) la iglesia del
Señor”. Son “aptos para enseñar” (1 Tim. 3:2).

shepherds they feed the flock. Acts 20:28,
“feed (shepherd) the church of the Lord.” They
are “apt to teach,” (1 Tim. 3:2).

perfeccionan (capacitan),
entrenan a los miembros, Efes. 4:11, 12;

build up, perfect (equip), train the
members, Eph. 4:11, 12; 2 Tim. 2:2.

 Requiere
mucho estudio y mucha obra personal.
Visitan miembros con problemas de salud,
miembros nuevos o recién restaurados, miembros
débiles o desanimados (1 Tes. 5:14; Sant. 5:14).
 Requires
much study and much personal work.
They visit members with health problems, new or
recently restored members, weak or discouraged
members (1 Thess. 5:14; James 5:14).

preocupan por los miembros que no son
cumplidos en su asistencia, que no ponen el reino
primero en su vida, etc. ¡VELAN por sus almas!
 They
are concerned about the members that are
not faithful in their attendance, that do not put
the kingdom first in their life, etc. They WATCH
for their souls!

Los pastores buscan las ovejas descarriadas..
Mt. 18:12; Gál. 6:1, “si alguno fuere sorprendido
en alguna falta, vosotros que sois espirituales,
restauradle con espíritu de mansedumbre”.
 IV.
The shepherds look for the sheep that go
astray, Mt. 18:12; Gal. 6:1, “if a man is overtaken
in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore
such a one in a spirit of gentleness.”

Cor. 5; 2 Tes. 3. Los obispos toman la delantera
en llevar a cabo estas instrucciones del Espíritu
Santo para salvar a los miembros infieles.

estar enterados de falsas doctrinas
enseñadas por hermanos: Deidad de Cristo,
divorcio y segundas nupcias; días de la creación.

must be informed of false doctrines taught
by brethren: Deity of Christ, divorce and
remarriage; days of creation.

Algún miembro nuevo podría comenzar clases
en los hogares para enseñar tales errores. Los
ancianos deben estar preparados para refutarlos.
 Some
new member could begin classes in homes
to teach such errors. The elders must be prepared
to refute them.

Esta “buena obra” no es

 Conclusión.
 Conclusion. This
“good work” is not simply that
of “giving orders” (being chiefs) and
administering the funds of the church.

bien, es obra de ser buenos ejemplos
(modelos, dechados) para ser guías de la
iglesia. Las ovejas siguen a sus pastores.
 Rather,
it is the work of being good
examples (models, patterns) in order to
be guides of the church. Sheep follow
their shepherds.

Es obra de presidir o dirigir, de velar y de
edificar y perfeccionar la membresía para que
estén equipados para toda buena obra.
 It
is the work of presiding or directing, of
watching over and of edifying and perfecting the
membership so that they will be equipped for
every good work.

obra de buscar ovejas descarriadas,
restaurándolas cuando sea posible y aplicando
disciplina más severa cuando sea necesario.
 It
is the work of seeking the sheep that have gone
astray, restoring them when possible and
applying more severe discipline when necessary.

obra de proteger el rebaño, defendiendo la
verdad, refutando el error y “tapando la boca” a
los que enseñen error o promuevan división.
 It
is the work of protecting the flock, defending
the truth, refuting error and “stopping the
mouths” of those who teach error or promote
division.

 Hermanos
fieles deben anhelar esta buen obra y
la iglesia debe desear que haya ancianos y hacer
todo lo posible para desarrollarlos y apoyarlos.
 Faithful
brethren should desire this good work
and the church should desire to have elders and
do everything possible to develop and support
them.
