Campaign Goals
• Utilizing the fun ‘Vote’ theme in this
Election Year
• Drive awareness of the benefits of School
Lunch from Back to School through
National School Lunch Week (NSLW)
• Key Messages
– School lunches can be kids’ favorite dishes, and be
nutritiously prepared at the same time.
– “These are not your mom’s school lunches.”- correct
misconceptions about school lunch

2008 Voting Timetable
• Voting will take place in cafeteria paper ballots
and online at www.VoteForSchoolLunch.org
• Voting runs from August 1,2008 to October 17,
2008 (last day of NSLW)
• Collated paper ballot results must be received
by SNA by October 22, 2008
• The winner and ‘President of School Lunch” will
be announced on October 24

What’s New For the
Presidential Edition
• President of School Lunch
– The ‘Presidential Edition’ is the culmination of
a 3 year campaign.
– The winner will be elected ‘President of
School Lunch’
• Kids get to vote for a President too!
– ‘Vote’ is a fun way to get kids involved in the
voting process
– The 2008 US election should add some extra
buzz to this already fun campaign

Ideas for Our Schools
• Serve each candidate once a week
• Paper Ballots: have students tally up votes
per grade or school
• Create a Voting Day for each grade
• In this election year, work with teachers to
help promote the theme, and teach about
the election process
• Create low-cost costumes for kids or staff
