Connecting Students to Careers

This experience will allow us to model the Roadtrip Nation philosophy to students and show
alternative ways of career exploration.

We will train and mentor students at our college who want to explore career options in a
non-traditional, action-oriented approach.

Roadtrip Nation’s modern day approach to defining one’s road in life identifies with students,
engages students and individuals in their careers, and gives direction to their future.

Students need to have the freedom to explore before settling on a career direction. It usually
takes some trial and error before one finds something one’s really passionate about.

We expect this trip will bring a world of possibilities to students searching for the right path,
and hopefully show them that there’s more than one way to achieve their goals.

Our Mission and Purpose
We are joined in purpose by our desire to explore career opportunities through the eyes of those who
have followed their passions. We are looking for a new and impactful way to connect students to
careers by developing a bridge that leads from education to meaningful employment. We want to
empower students to see the possibilities, to “dream big.”
We are the recipients of a grant designed to bring career awareness to community college students,
sponsored by California SB70, California Career Café’s “Connecting Students to Careers Initiative,” in
conjunction with Roadtrip Nation, an organization whose mission is to help individuals define their own
roads in life. With their support, we intend to seek out leaders in a variety of careers who will share
with us their inspirational journeys, words of wisdom, and passion for doing what they love. With
these stories, we believe we can motivate and empower students to follow their own dreams as they
reach for success.
As career counselors, we want to bring hope, direction, and opportunity to our students. Therefore, we
want to explore success stories within our state, share that motivation and passion with our students,
and encourage them expand their career dreams and visions.
We will use this experience to develop leaders of the future, students who are ready to take on the
global economy of the 21st century as vibrant participants in shaping the future of California. We also
want to personally develop an extensive understanding of a variety of career and employment
opportunities available so that we are better prepared to share this ever-changing dynamic experience
with our students at MSJC.
We invite you to be a part of our journey!
