Being Successful is About Being Transparent
Active Directory and GroupWise play a critical role in
your environments.
To leverage the best of both worlds, companies need a
transparent process to manage users in both systems.
Riva is strategic with customers because it
transparently integrates and synchronises Active
Directory with eDirectory and GroupWise.
Why companies need it?
With the End-of-Life for NetWare, many companies
are migrating from NetWare to Windows and want to
continue to use GroupWise.
Many companies already run Windows servers for
authentication, file and print services and use
GroupWise as their collaboration platform.
Many companies are looking to migrate to GroupWise
but don’t want to use ConsoleOne to manage
GroupWise !
®
How does it work?
• Provides automatic Active Directory to
eDirectory/GroupWise identify synchronisation
• Requires 15 minutes to install and configure
• No schema extensions or other services need to be
installed on the target systems
• For existing systems, users with the same email
address information (in both AD and eDir) are
automatically linked
• The GroupWise LDAP Authentication value is set to
point to Active Directory – users authenticate to
GroupWise with their Active Directory password.
How does it work?
• Creating a new user in an in-scope OU in Active
Directory causes that user to be created in
eDirectory and GroupWise. The LDAP authentication
value is set to point to Active Directory. The user
authenticates to GroupWise with his Active Directory
password
• When a new email-enabled group is created and
members are added in Active Directory, the equivalent
GroupWise distribution list and members are created
• Modifications to Active Directory group memberships
are replicated to GroupWise distribution lists.
What gets synchronised?
Active Directory user attributes
including:
• Account status (enabled / disabled)
• Account expiration date
• Contact details (phone number, address, etc.)
• Demographic information
• And other relevant address book information
What are the best features?
• Allows a single point of administration for the two
systems
• Microsoft Manage Console (or other Active Directory
management applications like eControl) can now be
used to provide GroupWise account and distribution list
management
• Changes to Active Directory accounts, groups,
passwords are transparently synchronised to
eDirectory and GroupWise
• Can also be used by third-party developers to integrate
Active Directory-aware applications with GroupWise
Riva Managed Identity Integration vs other
Directory Synchronisation options?
• Non-intrusive - no directory schema extensions
• No complex design tools
• No database requirements
• No long and drawn-out implementations
• Single Riva server for multiple system deployments
• Easy to install, easy to manage
• Immediate user and administrator acceptance.
