How do I …
Open
Anesthesia Manager?
(for the first time, perhaps)
Opening Anesthesia Manager …
• Make sure the Workstation computer is “On”
• Workstation computer should be “Auto-Logon”
i.e. no username & password needed
• Find the SIMS LIVE Perioperative Manager icon and
double-click it to run the program
• Wait for the program to load –
“splash screen” visible =>
Logging into Anesthesia Manager …
• The Log In dialog window appears:
Experiment to find
the fewest letters
needed
You might need
to press the  key
more than once
In the first image shown, I
have started to enter my
“Name” – [r][e]…
(don’t bother using
upper case letters to type
– they appear anyway!)
Usually only 2 or 3
letters is all you need
to “jump” to your
name in the list.
After the letters, press
the [down] arrow;
if it’s your name shown,
then hit the [TAB] key…
Using the Temporary password …
Enter your SIMS password.
(not your TOH password)
This time letters
show in lower
case – it’s OK!

If this is your first time to
use Anesthesia Manager,
you need to enter the
Temporary password given
to you.
If using the Temp password
you will be told that your
password has expired;
you need to enter your own
new private password.
Logging in routinely …
No
need to
move
pointer
to OK
and
click
Use the 2-3 letters +
[down] arrow shortcut
to find your name,
[TAB] to the Password box
and enter your chosen
password.
The shadow around the
[OK] button means that it
is the default entry button
for this dialog.
It is waiting for you to hit
the [Enter] key!
Then hit the [Enter] key.
Try to avoid switching
from typing to using the Mouse
to SAVE time
Selecting your patient …
When open, Anesthesia Manager will
automatically prompt you to select a patient:
Then Click
[Start Session]
Select your patient
by a single mouse
click
Important Concept:
Always pick a patient from
the Surgery Patients – Today census list
and then Start a Session
The “Remote View”
Button is used to
finish charts in
PACU or to review
charts at
a later date
