APPR UPDATES

New State Growth Measures for K-2 • Team Results – We will use the Mean Growth Percentile (average of the Student Growth Percentiles received from the state) for all students in grades 4-6 ELA and math.

New Local Measures for K-8 ELA and Math • • • • AIMSweb will still be used – Benchmarks in fall, winter, and spring AIMSweb will compute a teacher composite score for ELA and math combined Individualized rates of improvement will be used Specific tests have been designated for each grade level

New Requirements for Evidence Binders • • • Specific items will be required this year Domain 1 will be completed as part of the formal observation process Domain 4 will be completed by June 1 st

• • 4e: Evidence of participation in professional development that is not mandatory 4f: Evidence of involvement in extracurricular activities, following school procedures, improving culture, and assisting students outside of class

Other Important Notes

• • All APPR related documents will be uploaded and stored in Teachscape – Training is coming in September Teachers are required to use spreadsheets and templates provided by the district – These will be e-mailed to you – Teachers are responsible for recording their own pre-test scores, targets, and final assessment scores on the spreadsheet

Who Submits Target Spreadsheets:

• Anyone who does not receive a state growth score and is not using team results or AIMSweb for their state growth measure. This includes: – Regents teachers – Grades 5-8 Social Studies and Science teachers

It also determines the percentage who made their targets.

The spreadsheet has a formula to compute whether or not students made their targets.

When Setting Targets for SLO’s

• • • • Examine your passing and mastery rates from the last few years.

Set targets that will result in you getting the same or better results.

Set a minimum rigor expectation or minimum acceptable score to “close the gap”.

No student should have a failing grade as a target!
