Episode Two The Defence

Psalm 50 is judge.

6 : the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for God himself

The defendant:

The entire human race ‘There is no one righteous, not even one;

there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.’ Rom. 3 10,11

Romans 3 23-25

– There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

: Abraham believed God , and it was credited to him as righteousness..

also for us to whom God will credit righteousness - for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Romans 5 1-11 – the basis for the defence.

v.1 Only faith in Jesus deals with guilt.

v.6 when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

v.8 while we were still sinners Christ died for us v.10 while we were God’s enemies Christ died for us!

When we trust in Jesus we are: Justified – declared righteous [vs.1&9] Reconciled – peace with God [vs.1,10,11] Saved from the wrath of God [vs.9&10]

‘til on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied, for every sin on Him was laid, here in the death of Christ I live.

God is Judge – righteous anger. God is Redeemer – grace.

Romans 1 16,17 : I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes that is : first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. In the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
