It is famous thanks to nuclear power plant.
500 people live in Czarnobyl (2010).
There is a shop in Czarnobyl.
Causes of the disaster
• Experiment was conducted for the
period.
• Night shift was untrained.
• Anatoly Dyatlov emphasised to carry
out an experiment
Course of the disaster
• At 01:23:04 a.m. experiment start. The power
and temperature was increaseing fast.
Aleksander Akimow tried to turn off the
reactor, but it only increase the power.
At 1:23:47 a.m. thermal power reached
30 GW. Power ten exceeded normal levels.
Reactor exploded.
Effects
• Death of 62 people
• Evacuation of the surrounding towns and
villages
• Genetic mutations.
• Radiation sickness.
Reaction in Poland
• Everybody must drink iodine.
• Government prohibited cattle grazing
and eating fresh vegetables and fruit.
• PRL authorities introduced a policy of
disinformation.
