Teach them to your children and to their children after them. 10 Remember the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when he said to me, “Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.” • Remember the 10 words (statutes and judgments) – to _________________________ • This will show _______________________________________ to the peoples (nations). • What makes a nation great?___________________________________________ • Watch yourself closely so that you ________________________the things you have seen or let them ________________ from your heart as long as you live. • Teach them to ________________________________. 3 Torah - Deuteronomy 7:7-9 7 The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. 8 But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. Remember that God _____________ you. He will keep His covenant to those who ____________ Him and keep His ____________________ 4 Israel failed to remember or shema their God. Haftarah – Comfort My People • Isaiah 40:1-5 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins. 3 A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. 5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” But God had a plan! To show His Love and the Joy of Salvation, with Peace towards Israel. Patience for His people to return to Him and turn away from their sins. Kindness to bring comfort by a witness of His Goodness, Faithfulness and Gentleness towards them. And to bring them power for their soul (heart and mind) to live in His Holy Presence and show Self-Control to follow Him and obey Him. The voice in the wilderness was John the Baptist, a witness of the Good News to remember their God and His promises. And for them To Hear, Repent and Obey. 5 Brit Chadashah • Acts 4:7-12 7 They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?” 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (Yeshua), whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 Jesus is “‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Yeshua (Jesus) has been given to power to forgive sins! When we turn to Yeshua and follow HIM we also can know that God loves us, Yeshua has the power to save us and understands us. 6 HEBREW Practice English Hebrew Letter: Shema (Hear) Ayin Yisrael (Israel) Lamed Alef Resh Sin Yud Adonai (the Lord) Hay Vav Hay Yud Elohei nu (our God) Vav Nun Yud Hay Lamed Alef Adonai (the Lord) Yud Vav Hay Yud Echad Dalet Chet Alef Mem Write the letters in Hebrew: Shin (is One) 7 HEBREW Practice English Ba ruch (blessed) Hebrew Letter: (Final) Kaf Shem (is the Name) ka vod (of His glorious) Write Hebrew: Vav Resh (Final) Mem Dalet Vav Vet Malchuto (Kingdom) Vav Tav L’oIam (forever) (Final) Mem Lamed Ayin va’ ed (and ever) Bet Shin Kaf Vav Kaf Lamed Mem Dalet Ayin Lamed Vav 8 Write the words in English Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29 Adonai (The Lord) Yis ra el (Israel O) She ma (Hear) 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD ___________________________________________ E chad (Is One) Adonai (The Lord) E lo hei nu (Our God) our God, the LORD is one. ___________________________________________ Shem Ka vod (of is glorious) (is the Name) Ba ruch (Blessed) Blessed is the name of His glorious ________________________________________ Va’ ed (ever) L’olam (forever) Malchuto (Kingdom) Kingdom forever and ever. ________________________________________ 9 REMEMBER: Faith is trusting that God loves me, God has the power to help me and God understands my feelings, needs and desires. 10
