County Evaluators for the
Comprehensive Cancer
Control Plan and The Larger
Public Health System

Background
County Evaluators (CEs) will need to identify,
gather, and synthesize both traditional and
non-traditional sources of information in their
cancer capacity needs assessments.
To accomplish this, CEs will need to work with
many stakeholders. Among these are staff
from the LINCS agencies and local health
departments.

went into effect in February 2003.
They are based on the National Public
Health Performance Standards.

PHPS “Roll Out”
Beginning next week on May 20, 21, and 22,
2003, regional training will begin for New
Jersey health officers and boards of health
members.
CDC, NACCHO, and NALBOH in addition to
the New Jersey Department of Health and
Senior Services (NJDHSS) will be there for
the training.
We’re working with NJDHSS to have you

Cancer capacity needs assessment
activities in which CEs will be involved
will be about one year ahead of the roll
out process but can contribute to it
CEs need to be aware of the changes
and realize that they are a part of it.
