Research Findings
Students







Students report having a better attitude toward
school.
Longer class periods allow for more material to
be covered.
ACT scores reported to be the same or higher.
Improved student attendance.
Student appointments can be scheduled for off
days.
More time for the family.
Day to “de-stress” for the super-involved student.
Mondays could be used to:




Complete homework
Work on projects
Work a part-time job
Do community service
Teachers





Fewer absences – teachers can schedule
appointments on off days.
Less need for substitute teachers equals a
better education for students.
Longer class periods offer more time to
focus on given projects.
More time to prep for the week’s classes.
Increased staff development time.
Students will have
their best chance
at success
when they are no longer
serving time,
but when time is
serving them.
