Currently the county has an Able Bodied Adults without Dependents (ABAWD) Waiver; therefore, you will not need to meet the ABAWD work rule to get Food Stamps in this county.

The ABAWD work rule states you can only get Food Stamps for 3 out of 36 months, unless you worked or took part in training for 20 hours a week, or took part in workfare. You will have to meet the ABAWD work rule in the future, if the county no longer has the ABAWD Waiver.

Here’s why: This county’s unemployment rate was over 10%, so the federal government excused the county from the ABAWD work rule. If you move to another county during this time, you may have to meet the ABAWD work rule. You will get another notice if you must meet the ABAWD work rule.
