Preparing students for the
future with innovative
problem-based science.
 The
goal of the OHS Magnet Academy of
Biomedical Sciences is to prepare students
for the future. Our students are immersed in
hands-on, problem-based projects that
encourage them to question, research and
investigate medical related topics. Through
the integrated Project Lead the Way®
curriculum students work in teams to help
prepare each other for the real world of
medicine. The National Academy Foundation
provides us with an academy framework that
promotes college and career readiness.
Collaboration and Communication are
part of our daily routine. We work in
teams to complete our tasks. Making
presentations can be scary but
showing respect for everyone helps us
all build confidence.
We want to be involved in every
way we can. Adopting a 3rd grade
class and helping them with
Christmas writing made their day
and ours. We will keep our promise
to the community and help out
where ever we are needed.
Sometimes we just want to give up but
we know the reward at the end of this
journey is too great! Giving up is not an
option, we get help from our teachers,
our friends and our lessons. We know we
can do it, so we push through!!
Encouraging each other
and working together is
what we do everyday!

lessons. We
have all the
materials we
need to be
successful
but it is up
to us to
work hard
and see it
through.

Our work is tough but fun!
There is always someone to
laugh with!
Everyone works together to make all of our challenges
fun. Nobody is left out or behind. When we struggle
we pull together and work as a team!
Everyone at the Opelousas High School Magnet
Academy of Biomedical Sciences works
together. We have our ups and downs but
through it all, we make it work. With our
teachers and our administrators by our side we
know the sky is the limit for us at Biomed!
