accelerometer can create an accurate driver operating profile.
Speeding
• Two ways to capture vehicle speed or speeding events
•
The traditional way is transmitting location and speed on a
timed interval. This method only yields a chance of catching
speeding at the time of transmission. More frequent
transmissions would improve the process but the cost of the
wireless data plan would increase exponentially.
•
The second way is to have mapping data with speed limits
installed on the VEU telematic product. The speeding
application could be written is such a manner as to capture
only the events of exceeding the speed limit.
Page 9
Rollover
Prevention and Notification
•
The two levels of processing in the VEU allow the streaming accelerometer input data
to be managed in the ARM7, then logically communicated to the Xscale for inclusion
in the application.
•
The VEU accelerometer operates on 3 AXIS
•
Research data indicates cornering in excess of .36g lateral, is approaching rollover
danger based on vehicle center of gravity.
•
Prevention: Using the optional audio output, drivers can be audibly alerted when they
either are approaching or exceeding the corporate specified lateral threshold. Each
incidence can be recorded in a driver scorecard application.
•
Notification: In the event of a rollover, the VEU can be programmed to immediately
communicate a rollover message if the Z axis change is greater than 50 degrees or
as specified by customer. Communication can be either GPRS or satellite. ( Like the
“OnStar” commercial )

Fuel Tax Questions
• Is there value or additional fuel tax credits, for recording
actual fuel usage while performing operations, dumping
containers or compacting?
• Is there value to record actual fuel usage operations at the
waste disposal site?
• Assumes operations are non highway mile fuel consumption
• Note: The VEU can capture actual fuel consumption from the
J1708 or J1939 engine interface

Overview of On-Board Computers
• The VEU is the on-board computer with 10.2” monitor that
allows you to control your driver.
• The VEU will control full dispatching capabilities with
routing, real-time navigation, auto geo-fenced drop zones
with real-time updates.
• Bluetooth technology for handheld devices to capture realtime billing, real-time checkpoint status of the trailer, and
signature capture for payment.
• The on-board computer provides the driver with all the
information he needs, and also provides dispatchers the
right tool to sufficiently monitor and utilize their workforce.
