Over 8,000 new-technology aircraft in service since 2009. 12,000 aircraft being built in next few years. OPERATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRESS: GOAL TWO STATUS Pushing political action. Full use of four-pillar strategy, including global market-based measure. In line with UNFCCC’s 2020 startdate for a new climate agreement. WORKING TO DEVELOP A GLOBAL MARKET-BASED MEASURE 2009: industry presents Governments at ICAO with climate plan. 2013: Governments agree to develop global MBM for sector. Currently: parties at ICAO are undertaking political and technical work to design MBM for agreement at 2016 ICAO Assembly and implementation from 2020. PROGRESS: GOAL THREE STATUS In progress Will be pursued mainly through sustainable alternative fuels… …and future technology. SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVE FUELS Could reduce CO2 from airline operations by up to 80%. Industry is working with supply chain, researchers, civil society to introduce sustainability standards. Can be created from waste sources and non-food crops. Over 1,700 commercial flights so far. FUTURE TECHNOLOGY Over $15 billion Invested annually in research by aircraft and engine manufacturers HOW GOVERNMENTS CAN HELP COLLABORATION IS KEY For more information on industry climate action: www.enviro.aero Insert link to own company website and delete pink box!
