GRUNDTVIG WORKSHOP
Kraków 22.06 – 28.06.2014
"If we teach today's students as
we taught yesterday's, we rob
them of tomorrow."
John Dewey
Mobile Learning Week (MLW) is the flagship UNESCO conference on mobile
technologies and education. Held annually, this event assembles a diverse group
of stakeholders to share how affordable and widespread mobile technologies can
advance Education for All goals.
Teachers are the pillars of education systems and their involvement is crucial to
the viability of ICT in education efforts. This is particularly true as mobile technology
jumps from the margins of education to the mainstream, from informal settings to
formal ones and from small independently-funded projects to large
government-supported initiatives. Without the support of teachers in their
myriad iterations—including those who work with children, youth or
adults—technology generally remains peripheral to teaching and learning.

SMILE
SMILE is not only a mobile tool, but a means for
transforming pedagogy within existing curriculum
across all content areas. SoE seeks to equip teachers
through mobile learning to create a space for students
to become active agents of their own learning by
actually doing the work of creating questions, leading
to deeper learning and more critical thinking. SMILE
was originally developed for the world’s most remote,
underserved areas. Our SMILE Plug provides a private
classroom cloud for up to 60 mobile devices. It’s said a
smile can change the world.
