...All About the Art and Activities
You Can do to Learn to
"Embrace Our Differences!"
Describe the
Children! Can
you guess their
country?
Are THEY all
the same?
Pick someone! Write in the box what the kids are doing!!!
Draw arrows to where you think the children in the painting might live?
Hey...could they all live in the United States too?
Yinlu wrote that "A perfect
world doesn't have perfect
people; it has people who will
accept the differences and
flaws in others."
...what does she mean?
Quote:
A perfect world doesn’t have perfect people; it has people who will accept the differences and flaws in others.
– Yinlu Zhu, 11 years old, 6th Grade,
Pine View School, Osprey, Florida; Teacher: Connie Swikle
Do you wait for other people to try to make friends with you? Ask a
shoulder partner if they make friends easily?
What if EVERYBODY waited for somebody else to try first...?
Watch what the artist said about making friends!
Quote:
Don’t exclude me because I’m different; include me because I am UNIQUE!
Daniela Martinez, 14 years old, 8th Grade, Sarasota Middle
School, Sarasota, Florida; Teacher: Daphne Bazenas
The artist who made this
picture on the computer
wanted us to think about
different things that make us
feel like we have a shell
around us. For example...a lot
of kids are very shy when they
move to a new school.
Quote:
People are like rocks – some are polished,
and some are geodes;
all are gems on the inside.
– Sarah Schaefer, 12 years old, 6th Grade,
Laurel Nokomis School,
Nokomis, Florida; Teacher: Shala Rossheim
Where do you fit in?
Make a drawing showing YOU and two other people...how
do you fit in? What are all of you doing?
Quote:
A community is not a community without unity.
– Sammi Fisher, 11 years old, 6th Grade,
Sarasota Middle School, Sarasota, Florida;
Teachers: Moya Hanaway & Doug Abel
Little things you do can make a BIG difference!
Are you the Urban Samaritan or the duck?
Think of a time when you helped
someone out...
Think of a time when you were helped
out...
Even if nobody knows that you were
kind and helpful, it was the right thing
to do!
If someone helped you out, did you
thank them?
YIKES!!! What is happening here?
This is Bullying!
There are some smart
things you could do if
you saw this
happening...
what should you do?
Make a list of
appropriate things you
could do that would
keep this from
happening to you or a
friend?
