Expectations for iPad Use in our Classroom
iPads are Fragile and Expensive!
 We need rules on how to safely handle them
 We need clear expectations on how we are supposed to
use them during class
 We need to know how to maintain them so that they
are always ready to use
 We need to know where they are kept and how to keep
them secure
 We need to know what unacceptable use is and what
the consequences are
iPad Safety Rules
 Always carry them to your seat using two hands
 Never take them out of their protective cases
 Hold the iPad by the base, not the cover
 Always sit when using the iPad
 The iPad should be flat on a desk during use
 Never have food or drinks near the iPad
 Only clean an iPad with a clean, lint-free cloth
 Always gently handle the iPad
During Class
 Take turns and share
 Never grab an iPad out of someone else’s hands
 Remain on task while waiting your turn (for example,
brainstorm ideas in your journal)
 Know what you are supposed to be doing if you are
done with the assignment early (hint: it’s probably not
playing games on the iPad!)
 When the teacher says “Screens Down” immediately
stop, look and listen
