 A Social Enterprise
 Work with with authorities, groups and organisations
 Believe in people and communities
 Help what works
 Challenge what doesn’t work (and find real alternatives)
 Want people to have a real choice of great services and
supports
The vision
 Social Care (Self-directed Support)
(Scotland) Bill
 Support based around people not services
 This is called personalisation
 People can get a personal budget and use it
to buy the care or support they need
 People can take the money or ask someone
else to manage it for them

Connection
Community
Contribution
Control
Choice
If we get these right we will get
personalisation right
All that knowledge and talent...
People are good at lots of things. What they can do is
sometimes hidden. They often want to contribute to
their community
“People think that
because I’ve got
problems myself I’ve
got nothing to offer!”
What we do
Help people set up small, local
care and support services.
This gives people who need
care or support more choice
in their local community
What we do
We also help people to use what they are
good at and to contribute to their:
• own life
• family
• friends
• community

places and other locations too helping out with the
pedal powered smoothie bar”
“I liked doing Pulp Friction, it was good meeting new
people. It was helpful for me and I got a job”
“ I like doing Pulp Friction, I do cleaning and put the
rubbish in the bin. It has given me more confidence”
Enterprising Minds Changing Lives
Run by Hansel and Community Catalysts
• Supporting people with learning disabilities who
live in North Ayrshire
• Will link with local people in the community that
could help
• We want to find out what people are good at
• We want to help people to take control and to
make a contribution
• We hope that people will make lots of new
connections
Enterprising Minds Changing Lives
The project will help people who want to:
• set up their own business and earn
money. We call these people small
business leaders
• set up an enterprise but don’t earn money.
We call these people entrepreneurial
volunteers
• do something for their community. We call
these people community innovators
