Connecting Europe Facility
•
First AP (€930m) and MAP (€11bn) published
– Border-crossing points and bottlenecks
– Interoperability at national borders, notably in rail
– Multi-modality for passengers and freight, integration of urban
nodes
– Technological innovation (such as "communication" between
infrastructure and vehicles, between hardware and software)
– Implementing EU transport policy ("clean power for transport",
urban mobility, safety and telematics)
– Third countries
Corridors
• Map
• 80-85% for 9 core network corridors, cross-border and bottleneck
sections and 4 ‘horizontal’ priorities, such as motorways of the sea
and modal telematics (ERTMS, SESAR, ITS, RIS, VTMIS)
• For each: coordinator identified, study of needs undertaken
• UK is on North Sea-Mediterranean corridor.
• Spring – coordinators to submit work plans for each corridor. May
guide future call priorities and also some Juncker investment plan
priorities.
• 19-21 May – Motorways of Sea EU event in Liverpool. European
Commission initiative; local lead is LEP.
Timetable
• First transport calls opened September, deadline
26 February
• No calls (for richer countries) in 2015?
• 2016 calls open September to December 2016?
Member state approval
• Pre-requisite for successful bid
• UK government contact: Andrew Price,
DfT:
– All priorities open
– Sanctioned bids must fit spirit and letter of
programme
– Start discussions early.
– Open to discussion with pteg as grouping,
starting with Euro Group meeting in spring
