Why Do More Work?

•
It saves you time later
It will help make things flow better
Helps prevent/avoid irregularities
Begin to develop a standard and culture of
testing at your campus
– Everyone serves a role
– STAAR EOC at secondary level will evolve to
something we never had to deal with before

School must go on – what happens to the
rest of the campus?
Testing Areas
• Keep your testing rooms together
– Easier to manage the testing environment
• Plan ahead for relocating classrooms
– Master schedule
– Post relocation signs at least a week ahead of
time so students and teachers know where to
go on the day(s) of testing
• Mobile Nursing
Test Administrators
• Try to use teachers who do not have a
roster assigned to them
– Co-teachers
– Librarian
– Coaches
– Counselors
– Teachers who will not have a class because
they are testing
• Ex: EOC Reading I teachers should be test
administrators since their students are testing
Relievers
• Schedule rotations of teachers during their
conference period to serve as relievers
• Counselors
• CICs
• Administrators
Late Testers
• Secure in one area such as the library and
have supervision
• Feed lunch early
• Begin testing session after they eat lunch
so the 4 hour time limit ends before the
end of the school day
• Make calls home to ensure they are on
time for future testing sessions
Lunch
• Inform the cafeteria manager well in
advance of testing days and hours of
planned lunch
• Early lunch for late testers
• Later lunch for morning testers
• Supervision during lunch
School Must Go On…
• Ensure classroom reassignments are
posted ahead of time
• Post testing assignments ahead of time
• Keep integrity of testing environment –
divert traffic away from this area
• Postpone announcements until the end of
the day

Physical Barriers
• If you are physically unable to effectively
actively monitor a test administration, then
you need to make an appointment to see
myself and (principal.)
Active Monitoring
• Is not just for tests.
• Should be done consistently in class every
day
• Curtails unwanted behaviors
• Gives students opportunity to ask for help
• Is a great way to take anecdotal notes to
see who grasped objective and who needs
reteaching
Rosters, rosters, rosters
• Four sets of rosters
– Posted alphabetically without SID
– Alphabetically with SID for administrators and hallway
monitors to help get kids quickly into testing rooms
– Classroom Roster without SID
• Posted outside of each classroom
– Classroom Roster with SID
• Two copies in each bin. One to be turned in with absence
verification log (goes in notebook) and the other for the Test
Administrator to hold on to to help monitor who is in room,
complete seating charts, etc….
