The NSF I/UCRC Model
• More than 100 Industry/University
Cooperative Research Centers (I/UCRCs)
have been established by NSF
• Over 1000 companies have signed the
Affiliation Agreement for one or more
I/UCRCs
• An Industrial Advisory Board is involved in
project selection and strategic planning
The NSF I/UCRC Model
• Affiliates have common ownership of the
research portfolio
• NSF ensures high-quality centers by
engaging independent professional
evaluators to study I/UCRC interactions
both qualitatively and quantitatively
• Model is being considered in other
countries

S ERC Mission Statement
The mission of the Security and
Software Engineering Research Center
is to conduct a program of applied and
basic research on software security,
system security and software
technology problems of interest to its
members. The goal of this research is
to enable security and software
technology gains within member
organizations.
