Brief Summary of the Content
• STIMULATE 9 offered a wide scope of subjects related to
Library and Information Science.
• Basic and advance topics were offered on digital library,
copyright, open access, open source software, library
automation, ISIS, greenstone, web design, HTML, XML,
indexing, statistics, scientometrics and informetrics.
• Dynamic environment achieved during library visits,
assignments, attendance to conference and social events.
• Most topics were integrated with I.T., as the work in the
library becomes more demanding and complicated in this
new digital environment.
Suggestions to Improve the
Organization of the Program
• a 2 to 5-day lecture on language, culture and history of
Belgium
◦ aside from beer and chocolate tasting event, it might be
interesting to include this in the program particularly during the
first week.
• class schedule (related topics)
◦ although it was adjusted according to the availability of the
lecturer, it could have been better if it is sequentially scheduled
(blocked) according to topics and related/prerequisite topics.
Strong Points of the Organization of
the Program
• Library Visit
◦ provided a venue for an active learning environment
◦ The library heads and staff are very welcoming/accommodating
and patiently/willingly answers all our enquires
• Lecturer
◦ Well-known experts in their own fields
◦ Such an honor and privilege for me to be one of their students
◦ Exert a lot of effort in explaining and integrating the lessons for
the participants to understand it.
• Participants were able to participate in the 30th Annual
IATUL Conference
Best Components of the Program
Academic Contents
• Digital Library, Web Design, XML, Greenstone,
ISIS, Open Access, Open Source Software,
Copyright, Interlending and Document Supply
• Scientometrics and Informetrics
Not So Good Components of the
Program Academic Contents
• NONE

for wider coverage on the following topics:
◦ XML, Greenstone, Harvesting, Copyright, Open
Source Software and Courseware
Recommendation for the
Management in My Home Institution
• Implementation of the digital library, institutional
repository and library website
• Evaluation of research performance of
SEAFDEC/AQD by means of scientometric and
bibliometric studies
